Link and manage Discord and Google accounts

Link your Discord and Google accounts to Guildbase for faster sign-in and enhanced features. Manage your connected accounts from one place.

Why Connect Accounts?

Connecting external accounts to Guildbase provides several benefits depending on the service:

Discord

Sign in with Discord, receive DM notifications, link your identity for applications

Google

Quick sign-in with your Google account

Connecting Discord

To link your Discord account:

  1. Go to Account SettingsConnected Accounts
  2. Click Connect Discord
  3. You'll be redirected to Discord's authorisation page
  4. Review the permissions and click Authorize
  5. You'll be returned to Guildbase with Discord connected

Discord Permissions Explained

When connecting Discord, we request these permissions:

Permission Why We Need It
Identify Read your username, avatar, and user ID
Email Access your Discord email for account linking
Guilds See which Discord servers you're in

Privacy Note

We only access the information listed above. We cannot read your messages, see private channels, or post on your behalf.

Connecting Google

To link your Google account:

  1. Go to Account SettingsConnected Accounts
  2. Click Connect Google
  3. Choose your Google account
  4. Review and accept the permissions
  5. You'll be returned to Guildbase with Google connected

What Google Access Provides

  • Quick one-click sign-in
  • No password needed when signing in with Google
  • Profile picture sync (optional)

Managing Connected Accounts

View and manage all connected accounts from one place:

  1. Go to Account SettingsConnected Accounts
  2. See all currently connected services
  3. Click Disconnect to remove any connection

Disconnecting Accounts

To remove a connected account:

  1. Find the account in Connected Accounts
  2. Click Disconnect
  3. Confirm the disconnection

Before Disconnecting

If you signed up with a social account, ensure you've set a password first. Otherwise, you won't be able to sign in after disconnecting.

What Happens When You Disconnect

Account Effect
Discord Can't sign in with Discord, lose Discord-linked features like DM notifications
Google Can't sign in with Google, must use email/password

Switching Accounts

To connect a different Discord or Google account:

  1. First disconnect the current account
  2. Then connect the new account

Pro Tip

If Discord's OAuth popup shows the wrong account, log out of Discord in your browser first, then try connecting again.

Troubleshooting

Connection Failed

Ensure you're logged into the correct account in your browser. Try clearing cookies or using an incognito window if issues persist.

Wrong Account Connected

Disconnect the incorrect account and reconnect with the right one. Make sure you're signed into the correct Discord/Google account in your browser.

Can't Sign In After Disconnect

Use the "Forgot Password" feature to set a password, then sign in with email and password.

Security Considerations

  • Only connect accounts you control
  • Review connected accounts regularly
  • Disconnect accounts you no longer use
  • Enable 2FA on your Discord and Google accounts for extra security
